Verso's Former Duluth Mill Finds New Life with Sofidel

The changes from Verso’s closing of Lake States mills took another step in January with the sale of Verso’s former Duluth, Minnesota mill to the Sofidel Group.

Sofidel, a privately held Italian company, purchased the 65,000 metric ton capacity tissue mill from S.T. Paper of Oconto Falls, Wisconsin. S.T. Paper purchased the mill in 2021 after it had been closed by Verso and converted it to a multi-faceted tissue manufacturer capable of using both recycled fiber and virgin fiber.

Sofidel operates in 12 countries and is a major tissue manufacturer in Europe.
