The USDA Forest Service has announced the application process for two community wood use programs with grant funding of $41 million. Both have application deadlines of March 23rd, 2023.

The Wood Innovations Grant Program focuses on innovative uses of wood in construction, energy markets and sustainable forest management, “particularly in areas of high wildfire risk”.

The Community Wood Grant Program is intended to support shovel-ready projects in installing community wood energy systems, equipment purchases at mass timber production facilities, or sawmill expansion projects.

“For-profit entities, state and local governments, Indian Tribes, school districts, non-profit organizations, higher education institutions, public utilities, and fire and conservation districts are eligible to apply,” according to the Forest Service announcement.
