Paper Excellence acquires Resolute Forest Products
Mill production and jobs will be maintained
MADISON, Wis. -- Consolidation of the North American pulp and paper industry continued in early July as Paper Excellence, a privately held company based in British Columbia announced the acquisition of Resolute Forest Products, the owner of pulp and paper mills throughout North America, including one in Menominee, Michigan, and three mills near the U.S. border in Ontario.
Paper Excellence will “maintain production locations and levels of jobs” according to the announcement of the acquisition. The mills will be combined into Domtar, a Paper Excellence subsidiary based in Montreal.
In addition to the Michigan mill, Resolute owns pulp mills in Thunder Bay and Ignace, Ontario, and a sawmill in Atikokan, Ontario.
