Minnesota Allows Heavier Timber Trucks to Help Offset Diesel Costs
Learn More About Minnesota’s Temporary Truck Weight Increase
Minnesota has moved to help reduce soaring diesel fuel costs by allowing trucks carrying forest and agricultural products to exceed state weight limits by 10%.
A press release from the Minnesota DNR announced an executive order from Governor Tim Walz that “authorizes vehicles transporting agricultural and forest products to exceed regular weight limits by up to 10 percent on state and local highways. By allowing producers and haulers to move more products per trip, the order helps conserve fuel and reduce costs during the critical harvest season.”
Diesel fuel prices have exceeded $6.50 per gallon as the war with Iran has continued. The extra weight allowance is expected to expire at the end of October.
